School Rules

We follow the 'Golden Rules' and children are rewarded for keeping these rules by a weekly 'Golden Time' plus 'Star of the Week Awards'.  We do not have sanctions for disobeying the rules such as missing part of 'Golden Time', playtime or losing a treat.  If behaviour is more severe we will always contact parents.  If you have any concerns please speak to your child's class teacher or to Mrs Pinchess, Headteacher.

Rewards

Most childre respond to a positive, consistent approach where the emphasis is on reward rather than punishment.  Each child has a Smiley Face chart and when they have earned 10 faces for good work, behaviour or effort in a variety of situations they are presented with a Smiley Face Badge to wear.  A child is chosen from each class every week to be 'Star of the Week'.  They are chosen for their excellent behaviour, attitude to work and the effort they make in general.  Children receive a star badge to wear all week and they have a special treat on a Friday afternoon, visiting Big Club.  Parents are invited to our Thursday assembly to celebrate children's achievements and birthdays during the week.

Bullying

Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.  Any worries or concerns of this nature are always taken seriously with the appropriate investigation and action.

Difficulties with Behaviour in School

When a child consistently displays unacceptable behaviour the following actions could be taken:

   1. Involve the Headteacher and Special Needs Co-Ordinator.

   2. Involve parents and look for causes of behaviour.

   3. Withdraw privileges or use 'time out'.

   4. Set goals for the child in small, manageable steps and reward success.

   5. Exclusion for a fixed period would be considered in extreme cases.
