As you know we have been developing Healthy Eating in our school and have gained the 'Enhanced Healthy Schools Award'. In addition to producing a Healthy Eating Policy we decided to produce some lunchbox guidelines.
These are recommendations only for what could be included in your child's lunch, based on producing a healthy, balanced lunchbox.
- Sandwiches/rolls/pitta - preferably wholemeal.
- Fillings - cheese/ham/salad/tuna/egg/marmite/etc
- Food needs to be made up and ready for your child to eat, not like Dairylea packs which they need to make up themselveS.
- Fruit - Fresh or dried
- Yoghurt - please provide your child with a spoon.
- A sweet option e.g. home-made fairy cake, flapjack, healthy cereal bar (many shop bought cereal bars are not as healthy as they seem), plain biscuit.
- Drink - water/fruit juice/sugar-free squash.
The lunchbox should not include these things as they are not healthy options
- Jam or chocolate spread fillings in sandwiches
- Crisps
- Sweets
- Chocolate
- Fizzy drinks
- Peanut butter due to nut allergies
Your child will eat their lunch in the hall under the supervision of the Midday Supervisors. All rubbish/leftovers are left in the child's lunchbox so that you can see exactly what your child has eaten.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT WE ARE A NUT FREE SCHOOL.
